TONY MOLY: Intense Care Snail Foam Cleanser

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hey everyone! I've always been an avid user of products from Tony Moly since the day they opened a flagship store in Manila. I've been a returning customer (SM North and SM Fairview) since last year because aside from selling high quality products from skin care to makeup, they also have sales representatives who assist you without annoyingly following you wherever you go.

A year ago, Tony Moly was on sale for more than a few times so my friends and I stocked up on our favorites. They had a buy 1 take 1 promo on selected Floria lines so I was able to try almost everything like the toner, emulsion, serum and night cream. Good thing about buying Tony Moly products in bulk is they generously give gifts with purchase. I've received sachets of cleanser, facial wash and BB cream but the most memorable and probably the best in my opinion is when they gave me a full size of the Premium Snail foam cleanser.

This cleanser comes in a 150 ml squeeze type tube with a flip top hence the product is easily dispensed. The label on the back of the tube is in Korean but the box has an English translation.

Glycerin is one of the main ingredients of this cleansing foam which is known for its moisturizing properties. It's a good cleanser that's mild enough to use everyday and is also suitable for those with sensitive skin.

It's opaque white and has the consistency of a thick cream. A small pea size is enough to cover your entire face. This cleanser lathers up quickly and feels really smooth and silky on your skin. I actually love its fresh citrus scent and how it makes my skin feel supple after each wash. I never had any adverse skin reactions to this cleanser and it didn't break me out. The price tag stings a bit and may not fit my tight budget, luckily I got another free tube from Tony Moly when I last restocked my Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream.

Overall, I am obsessed with this cleansing foam that I plan on saving money when I'm done with my second tube. Hopefully Tony Moly will still give one away as gift with purchase so I won't have to shell out 848 Php. I highly recommend it to those who want to try a good foam cleanser suitable for all skin types that can keep your skin clean and moisturized at the same time.

JULY BDJ BOX

Monday, July 29, 2013

Hey guys! It's been  more than a week since I got the July BDJ Box and I have to admit I'm still on cloud nine. I couldn't believe I'd be blessed with such generosity. I wasn't really expecting it to be delivered that day so when I saw my brother holding a huge package, I didn't have the slightest clue it was for me.

Look at these treats, 2 boxes for the month of JULY alone! I was wondering if I got the extra treat as a prize for tediously answering the monthly BDJ Box surveys or for joining the 7 day challenge or just by being a loyal BDJ Box subscriber. What the heck, it really doesn't matter as long as we're all happy!

I love this catchy BDJ phrase for this month: "What matters most is how you see yourself."

I love how neatly and stylishly BDJ arranges the products in all their boxes. Presentation is really a big deal because it shows how much they care for their subscribers. BDJ never fails to impress me with well chosen products included in every box. I believe they take time to get to know their subscribers through their monthly surveys and give us what we want including the awesome products in this month's box. So without further introductions, I bring you the contents of my July BDJ Box.

Beach Hut Sunblock, 150 ml (399 Php)
Last time I purchased a sunblock spray (of a different brand), it cost me a fortune. It reeked of chemical odor which is why I only used it once. I saw it again in my stash a month ago and it was already past its expiration date so I had to throw it away. Good thing BDJ included this Beach Hut sunblock spray, now I don't have to purchase one. I haven't used it though, so I can't tell yet if it's any good (I truthfully hope it is!).

Enchanted Pixie Dust Shimmer Eye Palette in Nude Eyes, 6 g (179 Php)
Yey! Another palette to add to my slowly growing collection of cosmetics. I really don't have much since I'm more of a skin care product hoarder which is why I welcome eye palettes given to me with arms wide open. This one in particular is for creating nude eyes which I'm still trying to get the hang of so I'm definitely practicing with this palette soon.

Too Cool for School BB Foundation Lunch Box #1 Matte Skin, ~15 g (219 Php)
Now this sample is my ultimate favorite! I love trying different BB products since the hype started a couple of years ago. Tony Moly tops my list of BB products which is why I was super excited to try another Korean brand, Too Cool for School BB Foundation. Read my full review here.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie (525 Php)
I have two of these in Red Velvet and Cherry Tart. I believe they are heaven's gift to women who aren't too comfortable wearing bold shades and young ladies who are still new to the makeup world. I love the sheer but pretty obvious hint of color it gives your lips. It glides on smoothly like butter and boosts your lips' moisture like no other. It also comes in playful shades to suit every occasion.

Foot Appeal Peeling Socks (279 Php)
I've heard a lot of good things about peeling socks, that they are able to exfoliate dead skin effectively with no down time. I purchased 3 pairs from Watson's months ago but haven't used any. Getting another isn't actually too thrilling anymore but it's a welcome addition to my stash.

Sure Slim Gift Voucher (1,500 Php)
Now this looks promising. I looked up Sure Slim online and it reminds me so much of the Cohen Diet because each participant is required to undergo a blood test before a diet plan is prescribed. I'm not sure if this is as expensive but the voucher can come in handy.

These items already made my day, imagine how ecstatic (yet speechless) I was upon seeing the contents of the other box.

The box that launched a thousand smiles!

Now these Dove products sky rocketed me to the moon! Imagine getting full size body and hair care products from Dove so you'd know why I feel so elated. Products included in this separate box are as follows:

♥ 2 bottles (180 ml) of Damage Therapy Intense Repair Shampoo (106 Php)
♥ 2 bottles (180 ml) of Damage Therapy Intense Repair Conditioner (108 Php)
♥ 1 tub (200 ml) of Damage Therapy Intense Repair Treatment Mask (235 Php)
♥ 1 piece  (135 g) of White Beauty Bar Moisturizing Milk (52.50 Php)
 ♥ 1 bottle (40 ml) of Whitening Original Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Roll-on (83.50 Php)
♥ 1 can (169 ml) of Whitening Original Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Aerosol (170 Php)

The Dove products alone cost almost a thousand pesos while the ones in the BDJ Box are valued cumulatively at more than 3,000 Php. So this means I got a total of 4,000 Php worth of products this July from BDJ. What an absolutely amazing deal! Needless to say that I love the July Box and as I said before, I highly recommend subscribing to them the soonest you can because boxes get sold out pretty fast. You may click here to start your subscription. As for me, I will continue mine and hopefully post my reviews on the products included each month. Any requests on which of these products you want me to review next? Let me know by posting on the comments section below. Thanks for reading and have an amazing week!

Too Cool for School BB Foundation #01 Matte Skin

Friday, July 26, 2013

Hey guys! It's been raining most of the time this week but I do hope your days weren't as gloomy as the weather. Mine on the other hand have been pretty much productive. I was able to rearrange my stuff, make an inventory of products I haven't used and update my newly established online shop, BeautyRx. If you have time to spare please take a look, hopefully you might see something you like.

If you read my last post, you'd know that I recently got my July BDJ Box and of course the first sample I tried is a BB product made in Korea, Too Cool for School BB Foundation.

The sample included in the box comes in a trial size tube with a twist off cap. The package didn't say how much product is in the tube but I'm guessing it's around 15 ml.

The full size comes in a 40 ml plastic jar with a spatula underneath its twist off cap. The main difference between a sample and full size is that the latter comes with a concealer and highlighter incorporated in the bottle cap. I wish they did include those in the sample so we could see how they work with the BB Foundation.

Too Cool for School BB Foundation comes in 2 varieties, #01 which gives a matte finish ideal for oily skin and #02 which offers a dewy look best suited for dry skin.

The BB Foundation in my box is #01 intended for oily skin. I love that they sealed the tube to prevent spillage and that it has a pointed nozzle to dispense the cream easily.

This BB Foundation has a subtle scent which fades almost instantly after application. It has a creamy texture and is a bit difficult to apply because it dries off quickly. Patting this with your finger pads is by far the most convenient way of applying it but using a flat top brush is much quicker.

Above image shows you how it looks like when spread and blended. It does look fairer but it matches my face better than the back of my hand. It doesn't leave a white cast, instead it gives you fairer and glowing skin with a matte finish that you won't be needing a powder on top of it. It lasts for 4 to 6 hours without caking and looking greasy. You may notice your T-zone getting a little bit of shine in the middle of the day but a few dabs of oil control film or face powder are enough to fix it.

This BB Foundation got me really interested in trying the other shade which gives a moisturized finish. I've always known I have oily combination skin type but when I had my skin assessed last year by Clinique, they said I'm a #2 which falls under the dry combination skin type. Despite that, I somehow think of my skin oily than dry and have always had that in mind when choosing skin care products. Well after trying this, I'll consider leaning towards moisturizing my skin more than trying to avoid it getting oily. This way I won't strip my skin with the moisture it really needs and hopefully get a better match when choosing skin care products next time.

Overall, I love this BB Foundation in terms of consistency, shade and finish. I do recommend it to those with oily skin because it can really give you that gorgeous matte finish and control oiliness throughout the day. If you have dry skin, you may want to try the other variety, #02 which gives a more moisturized finish. I won't be buying the same shade, instead I'll give #02 a try. Who knows, it just might make it to my top rated BB products.

NYX: Jumbo Eye Pencil

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Hey guys! If you read my previous post, you'd know that I recently visited NYX's first official boutique in Manila at The Annex, SM North and got myself a few items including the Jumbo Eye Pencil in bronze. This sleek pencil has garnered great reviews from bloggers and vloggers alike which is why I want to try it personally and see if it's really worth all the raves.

It looks like a jumbo pencil with a transparent cap that's not too sturdy because it's only been a few days since I bought it and you can already see cracks near the edge.

The pencil is clearly labeled with the particular shade, manufacturer and list of ingredients. I initially thought the base can be twisted to allow the rest of the product to show up but I was wrong. Just like a pencil, you have to sharpen it once blunted.

I love the tapered tip because it allows you to reach the corners of your eyelids with precision. It slides easily on your skin with minimal tugging and a single layer is enough to bring out a pop of color to your eyes.

Above image shows you that a single coat is enough to see how brilliant the color is. It can also be layered without looking flaky. Blending the color with the use of either your finger tips or blending brush still gives you a nice shade of bronze.

The formula feels waxy on application but it spreads quite easily. It gives a matte finish that you couldn't tell the difference from a powder based eye shadow. Staying power is pretty decent, lasting 6 to 8 hours even without a primer. I love that it's easy and quick to use making it a good choice for makeup newbies, during touch ups or when you're running late and have little time to prepare in the morning. It's reasonably priced at 300 Php but you can get it from online sellers for as low as 195 Php plus shipping.

Overall, I am so impressed with this product that I recommend it to everyone who wants a fool proof, high quality eye shadow that's affordable and locally available. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil is indeed worth all the raves and I will be purchasing other shades soon. So, have you tried any of the jumbo eye pencils? Which shade is your favorite? Tell me all about it on the comments section below. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day

CELETEQUE: DermoScience Brightening Multi-benefit BB Cream with SPF 15

Monday, July 15, 2013

Hey everyone! I can't wait to share with you another amazing local product I just started using, the Celeteque DermoScience Brightening Multi-benefit BB Cream  with SPF 15. It retails for 325 Php but I got mine free from Sample Room together with Nivea Black and White Deodorant ( 170 Php) for men and paid only 100 Php for shipping.

This BB Cream comes in a convenient easy to squeeze 30ml tube with a twist off cap. The packaging is quite similar to my second most favorite BB Cream, Clinique but looks more simple. I can't make out the scent but it's so subtle it can pass as scent free.

It has a creamy texture which can be applied and spread effortlessly on your skin. I love that it blends well with my medium complexion without leaving a ghostly white cast. It feels light on your skin and gives a moisturized finish without the shine. It offers minimal coverage hence reducing the appearance of minor skin imperfections. It offers SPF 15 and didn't irritate my skin or cause me to break out. I find this product very affordable and economical since a little amount goes a long way.

Others might find it odd but I like that it only comes in one shade because I won't have to decide what to get. The only thing I don't like about the Celeteque BB Cream is the staying power because it already started to fade after approximately three hours however you may top it with finishing powder to extend it to a couple of hours more.

Overall, I am impressed with this locally manufactured BB Cream from Celeteque and it will definitely be a main stay on my list. If you have minimal skin blemishes and are still looking for good quality BB Cream that don't cost much, then your search is finally over. If you need more coverage, this might not be the best product for you although you may use a concealer or top it with foundation for better coverage.

BEAUTY FORMULAS: Body & Face Cooling Mist

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Hey everyone! Last week, I made a quick visit to SM Hypermarket at Eton Centris to buy groceries and of course a trip to any store won't be complete without checking the beauty section where I found another budget friendly product.

Beauty Formulas body & face cooling mist is an affordable skin freshener made in the UK and is now being distributed in local malls. This was discreetly stacked on display with other facial care products on the bottom layer of the shelf so good thing I didn't miss it.

This comes in a 150 ml pressurized container with a spray. I like that it's handy and convenient to carry around. It reminds me so much of my former body mist, the Bio-essence BIO Spring Water but a lot cheaper (139 Php) and more importantly, available in local supermarkets.

I initially didn't like the spray because the product came out of the container like droplets instead of mist. Then I realized my fault after reading the instructions because I didn't give the can a good shake before use. It instantly refreshes your skin giving it a clean and moisturized feeling. It didn't cause any irritation or pimple break outs. The canister is properly labelled with the manufacturing and expiration dates. It's suitable for all skin types and you can use it regularly as often as you want. I love to use mine during Zumba because of its cooling effect.

Overall, I'm really happy I found this product. I will be repurchasing this when it runs out and recommend it to those who want a good cooling mist that's more affordable than other imported brands and is locally distributed.

So what do you think? Have you ever discovered a really good dupe to any of your favorite skin products? Do let us know by leaving your comments below. Have an awesome week ahead!
