MAYBELLINE: Dream Liquid Mousse Challenge

Saturday, September 27, 2014

I'm always up for a good challenge which is why I'm taking Maybelline's invitation to join one featuring their #1 foundation, the Dream Liquid Mousse. In this challenge, we'll see if this foundation is true to its claims of improving skin texture giving the appearance of a perfectly smooth, 100% PORELESS complexion.

Opening the box made my heart skip a beat! I was dead sure about getting the Liquid Mousse Foundation but Maybelline made this challenge more special by throwing in an extra treat, a Duo Fibre Brush.

See how big the Maybelline Duo Fibre brush is compared to other brushes I own. On the left is a Sigma Duo Fibre Brush from the Sigma Premium Travel Kit and on the right is from Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo-Fiber Collection.

The Maybelline Duo Fibre Brush is way bigger than Sigma and a bit more comparable to Real Techniques. Maybelline is more densely packed with soft bristles that feel so gentle on your skin. I love how it instantly evens out the Liquid Mousse Foundation with just a few strokes.

Maybelline sent me a full size bottle of their Dream Liquid Mousse in Classic Ivory. I got a bit intimidated by the shade because I thought it was too light for my NC30 skin but it turned out okay. This foundation came in a 30 ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser which I really love. It doesn't come with a cover but you can twist the pump either way to lock and unlock the spout.

It's unscented, has a silky texture that spreads effortlessly and blends perfectly that it looks and feels like your real skin but better. It doesn't seem to settle on fine lines or accentuate dry patches on your skin. It offers light to medium coverage and blurs out minor flaws but you still need your trusty concealer for more obvious blemishes. It gives your skin a dewy finish that doesn't look and feel greasy. I believe this to be ideal for all skin types. For best results, those with dry skin may use a good moisturizer beforehand while those with oily skin may use finishing powder on top. Good thing this foundation didn't irritate my skin or cause pimple break outs.

Overall, I love this Dream Liquid Mousse from Maybelline. Although you really can't achieve a 100% poreless complexion with just one product, this foundation still gives you decent coverage which you can amp up a little with the help of a concealer or finishing powder. The brush did make application a breeze but this foundation blends so well that using your finger tips is enough to do an equally great job! It's reasonably priced at Php 599 and you can get the Duo Fibre Brush (limited stocks) for free with a minimum purchase of Php 799 inclusive of the Dream Liquid Mousse. Hurry and get yours now before they run out.

DABO: Anti-aging Hand Cream

Friday, September 26, 2014

Hey guys! I recently received gifts from my lovely cousin who's based in Singapore. She knows how I love trying out new skin care products which is why she sends me every new thing she sees on display when she goes shopping. Early this month, she got me a hand cream from DABO, a Korean brand.

DABO Hand Cream contains Coenzyme Q10 and Shea butter that will help improve skin texture and prevent aging. It comes in a 100 ml squeeze type tube with a screw-on cap which reminds me so much of L'occitane hand creams. This cream is opaque white and has a fresh aloe scent. A pea size is all you need to moisturize your hands. I love that it spreads effortlessly and gets absorbed quickly by the skin. It moisturizes your hands and nails without the sticky feeling. After just a week of daily use, I noticed my hands are kept moisturized the entire day. Also, the rough edges near my finger nails have softened.

Overall, I am so impressed with this hand cream and I don't mind buying another tube once it runs out. I'll try to find out if DABO is available locally and if it is, I highly recommend it to everyone. Any queries in mind? Do share them on the comments section below. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week!

BDJ BOX: September Beauty Innovations

If you subscribed for the September BDJ Box, I'm pretty sure your eyes went wild seeing the ginormous package. Image above shows you how huge the September box is (Right) as compared to the regular BDJ Box (Left).

Inside you will find the stickers and welcome note which has the list of all featured products in the box.

See how jam packed this month's box is? I see a few familiar products and new ones as well. Now let's take a closer look shall we?

(L) Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Toner | 60 ml | Php 60
(R) Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Facial Wash | 6 ml sachet (4) | Php 85
The September BDJ Box has reunited me with Godiva, a brand I've known and trusted in the past years. I remember loving their face powder beautifully cased in an oval compact. Now I'm excited to finally try their skin care products particularly the LicoWhite line.

Pond's Dewy Rose Gel | 10 g jar (2) | Php 150
This moisturizer intrigued me so much that I immediately used it. The gel texture as well as the overall feel it gives on application remind me of Clinique Moisture Surge. I believe this to be a good alternative if you want to try gel moisturizers but don't want to spend much on just one product.

Cream Silk Daily Treatment Conditioner | 180 ml (2) | Php 134
I can't remember the last time I used Cream Silk Conditioner but I do know that it's one of my absolute favorites from way back. The hair care industry expanded in the past years giving birth to an array of choices but Cream Silk has always been one of the brands that most women trust hence go back to.

Dove Intense Repair Daily Hair Vitamin | 6 capsules (2) | Php 75
Now Dove is my current hair care brand and it's a great thing BDJ Box included samples of their Daily Hair Vitamin because I've been wanting to try them.

Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion | 100 ml | Php 88
Jergens Daily Moisture Lotion | 200 ml | Php 153
A lady can't have too many lotion so getting two of these from Jergens is a real treat! I've been wearing dresses to work lately and moisturizing my skin especially my legs is an absolute must so I really need all the body lotion I can get my hands on.

Beach Hut Clear Spray | 180 ml | Php 390
I've used Beach Hut in my last trip to El Nido and I loved it! This clear spray may look and feel a little greasy but dries off in a few minutes without the icky feeling. I love how the spray works making application a breeze.

FS Single Eye Shadow | 4 g | Php 150
I'm beginning to accumulate single eye shadows in my collection and this one from FS is a good addition. Although the shade doesn't appeal much to me, I'll still give this a go.

FS Gel Liner | 5 ml | Php 299
Another product from FS that I'm really eager to try is their Gel Liner. I'm really not into gel liners because I feel like I can't apply it the right way but I don't want to surrender without trying either. Good thing BDJ Box included a pot for me to practice on.

PAC Make Over | 1 Voucher | Php 1,500
This voucher from PAC will come in handy especially when I have an event to go to. I just wish I can use it soon before expiring.

Now that was a mouthful but I certainly don't mind and I'm sure all of you don't either. This month's BDJ Box has got you covered from head to toe with its vast array of beauty products. The contents' value is definitely above and beyond what I paid for. BDJ Box never ceases to amaze me which is why I remain a loyal (and eager) subscriber.

Want a more detailed review on any of the items mentioned above? Feel free to leave your thoughts  on the comments section below and I'll get back to you shortly. You may also want to visit BDJ Box's website to see more cool stuff. Thanks for dropping by and have a fantastic week!

BDJ BOX: August 2014 Luscious Locks

Friday, September 19, 2014

Hey guys! BDJ Box, the country's leading beauty subscription box, has definitely proven itself worthy of being the best in its field with the release of one awesome box after the other. I've been an avid subscriber since day 1 and have seen how this box can really bring a huge smile to ladies (and gents) of all ages.

I just resubscribed and the August issue is my latest box. It consists of various products from Garnier, L'oreal, Shiseido, Revlon and Fendi. You may read more to see what they are.

Garnier Color Naturals Cream (Light Brown) | Full size: 100 ml | Php 199

I have mixed feelings about getting a DIY hair color system because first of all I rarely color my hair. Second is, I prefer having it done in a salon where I can consult an expert regarding the best shade to use. I'm also quite neutral about the color they sent me because I prefer a darker shade of brown. Anyway, I'll see in the next days if I can squeeze this in my crazy schedule and have a full review about the experience.

L'oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil | 45 ml | Full size: 125 ml | Php 995

I believe this to be a leave-on product that can be used everyday to nourish your tresses and prevent them from damage. L'oreal has always been a reliable brand in hair care that I'm pretty much confident it'll match if not exceed my expectations.

L'oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Hair Masque | 75 ml | Full size: 200 ml | Php 1,095

Good thing BDJ included this hair masque because I really love trying out new products that can be used less often yet bring great results. It promises to deeply nourish your hair with regular use. L'oreal suggests to use it once a week after shampooing if you have normal hair or everyday in place of conditioner for those with dry hair.

Fan Di Fendi Blossom | 30 ml | Full size: ml | Php 2,850

I'm not so much into perfumes which is why I only own a few. I prefer colognes that give you just a tinge of scent and I don't really mind that they don't linger since I love reapplying every chance I get. This perfume truly reminds me of blossoming flowers with a fruity note. It's not as nauseating as other floral perfumes so I'm keeping these sachets for future travels.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Shine | Full size: 4g | Php 350

This lipstick glides smoothly on your lips, doesn't seem to settle in your creases and keeps your lips moisturized. It has a sheer color that's buildable  into a more obvious shade. I got the color Honey Nude but sadly this shade doesn't suit me well. I might continue using and see how it looks in combination with a tinted gloss.

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate | 5 ml | Full size: 30 ml | Php 3,500

This product has the consistency of a thick serum that spreads effortlessly. I love that it melts like butter on your skin without leaving a greasy finish. The scent reminds me so much of fresh morning dew. I've only been using this for a few days now so expect a full review in the future.

I also got a discount voucher from blo blow dry bar which entitiles you to get 20% off on any of blo's 7 signature hairstyles and a free deep conditioning treatment for every blo out.

Overall, I am so happy to get wonderful products from my August BDJ Box. Good thing I resubscribed just in time. You may want to try subscribing as well! Just click here, register and start to enjoy premium products in full and sample sizes every month. Any thoughts? Do share them on the comments section below. Thank you so much for taking time to read this post, have a great weekend!

L'OREAL: Visible Lift Blur Foundation

Sunday, September 7, 2014

Hey guys! After all the fuzz about BB, CC, DD (and so forth) creams, a new line of products is starting to break the trend and steal the scene. I am talking about blur creams. I first heard about it several months ago and got to try one from Kiehl's. I instantly loved it so much that I wished more blur creams will be released. Good thing L'oreal came up with their own version in a form of a foundation called the Visible Lift Blur Foundation.

The product comes in a simple 40 ml squeeze-type tube with a screw cap. The spout is just the right size for easily dispensing the contents but be careful when squeezing the tube to prevent wastage. This foundation appears to be quite runny but I love how it spreads effortlessly and melts like butter on your skin! You'd be surprised how it can hide minor blemishes like a dream! It doesn't look and feel heavy. A thin layer appears so natural you'd fool anyone into thinking it's your bare skin. A second and third layer offers better coverage but you still need a good concealer to hide darker blemishes. It has a matte finish that doesn't cake nor settle in fine lines. It comes in a variety of shades and #204 Creamy Natural perfectly matches my NC30 skin. This foundation lasts the entire morning and may cause your skin to look a little shiny towards the afternoon. I also love that it didn't break me out.

Overall, I am totally obsessed with the L'oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation that I use it everyday and intend to repurchase when it runs out. It's perfect for my oily combination skin but I believe it also works well for all skin types. The only downside is that it's not yet available in local stores but I got mine at a fair price (Php 400) from bon marche, a trusted online seller recommended by a dear friend.
