Wednesday, July 17, 2019

Hey everyone! I am back with a first impressions review on another product that's literally hot off the grill from All Covered by AC, the brainchild of YouTuber turned social media influencer Anna Cay. The brand initially launched in February with the release of the Air Blender Sponge as its first installment to a lineup of products. Last week, they introduced another product which Anna kept hinting on social media several days prior, the All Covered by AC Skin Saver Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++.

Hello everyone! I'm back with another review on several products I got from Sample Room. If you're still unaware, Sample Room is the only sampling website in the Philippines dedicated to empowering consumers with the privilege to try out certain products before buying. It's unfortunate that our local market doesn't prioritize sampling and only offer trial products to purchasing customers. What about those who don't want to splurge on stuff they know nothing about? Good thing Sample Room debuted in 2012!

BIORÉ: UV Perfect Spray

Sunday, March 18, 2018

Hey everyone! Summer is just around the corner and that means more quality time with family and friends. I'm pretty certain you don't want to ruin your precious vacation with sunburn so make sure you're protected from the sun's harmful rays. As for me, despite already having a holy grail sunscreen, I still enjoy trying out other products that won't leave your wallet crying.

VMV HYPOALLERGENICS: Illuminants+ Cream

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Hello guys! I've been planning to get a diamond peel for months but my schedule doesn't seem to cooperate. If you're wondering why I need to have one, it's because my melasma is acting up again  mainly on the lateral areas of my forehead and cheeks. To be honest, I never had any idea what melasma was years back but in my early 30's I started to notice the sides of my forehead getting a bit darker than the rest of my face. I wasn't bothered at first since I can always even it out with foundation or BB Cream but the discoloration was getting more obvious during midday especially in well-lit places that I had to do something about it.

NIVEA: Sun Kids Moisturising Sun Spray SPF 50+

Sunday, May 15, 2016

Hello everyone! Summer is definitely at its peak and by now I'm guessing most of you have gone outdoors with friends and family or probably planning to hit the beach anytime soon. Just recently, we had a family outing in a private resort and being the skin care advocate in the group, I felt responsible for making sure everyone is protected from the harmful rays of the sun. Good thing I got hold of the Nivea sun kids moisturising spray spf 50+ when it was half price off last month. You might be wondering why I didn't hord on this but that's another story I'm telling next time.

CETAPHIL: Day Long Liposomal Lotion for Kids with SPF 50

I recently had a chance to spend time with friends and colleagues at the City of Dreams Manila. See that breathtaking sight? It was ours for 2 days.

BELO: SunExpert Transparent Mist

Sunday, April 13, 2014

Hey guys! We really don't need much reminder that it's summer especially when we feel its burning presence each time we step out of the house. A trip to the mall also gives us a clear mental note that it's time to show off some skin but in doing so, let's not forget to protect ourselves from continued exposure to the sun. This is why I am ever so thankful to Sample Room for featuring the Belo SunExpert Transparent Mist just in time for summer.

Belo SunExpert Transparent Mist SPF 50 (449.75 Php/ 100ml)
This summer must have comes in a transparent 100ml bottle. Looking through the container, you'll see that the product is clear and has a fluid consistency. It also gives off a pleasant floral scent that doesn't linger.

It may look and feel greasy when initially sprayed over the skin but it only takes several minutes to get totally absorbed. You'd be surprised how your skin turns into looking naturally moisturized and not at all oily. Although I avoid sun exposure as much as I can, this sunscreen still appeals to me because it provides broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays with SPF 50. It didn't irritate my skin or cause any adverse reactions.

The bottle comes with a spray dispensing the product like a mist. I love that the spray works at any angle so you can easily apply this all over your body. It's also water resistant so you may use this when swimming.

Overall, I really love this transparent mist because it does the job of protecting your skin from the sun while keeping it moisturized and fresh. It's also priced reasonably but you may want to check out Sample Room first for a free bottle. Otherwise, you can get one from leading stores nationwide. I do recommend everyone to try this product so you'd be as hooked as I am.

SHISEIDO: Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream SPF 38

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Hey guys! Are you into products that focus on anti-aging? If you are, better make sure you're using sunscreen because anti-aging products usually contain ingredients like Alpha Hydroxy Acid or AHA that make your skin more prone to the harmful rays of the sun. I've only been relying on my BB Cream for sun protection but just recently, my fiancé gave me a tube of Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream which I've been  using under my BB Cream for about 5 days now.

The Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream comes in a generous 50ml squeeze type tube.

It has a flip top cover with a narrow nozzle which I find really helpful to easily dispense the product and avoid wastage. This sunscreen doesn't reek of chemical and surprisingly smells mild to moderate compared to other sunscreens I've tried. I like that the chemical smell doesn't linger and goes off a few minutes after application.

The product appears creamy white, easily spreads on your skin and I love that it only gives your face a healthy glow without the ghostly cast. The cream melts easily on your skin, feels light and doesn't give an oily finish which makes this suitable to wear under your BB Cream or foundation.

This sunscreen offers an impressive broad spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays with SPF 38. If you're not yet aware, a good sunscreen should protect you from both harmful  rays with an SPF of at least 30. I already went deep into this on a previous post, so do check it out as well for further information. I'm not sure about the original price but my fiance got a really great discount from Marshalls and bought it for only $10, a little over 400 Php! Can you believe that? I'm guessing the original price ranges from $20 to $30. You can also get it from Amazon for as low as $12 or roughly 500 Php.

I also love that the ingredients include Zinc Oxide which is considered the best broad spectrum protection available that's safe to use even on sensitive skin. This sunscreen didn't break me out or cause any adverse skin reactions. The only downside is I'm not quite sure if it's available locally.

Overall, the Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream is a great sunscreen to use on any skin type on any given day. I love using it under my BB Cream and will repurchase once it runs out. I also recommend it to those who want to achieve and maintain a healthy skin. So what are your thoughts? Do share them on the comments section below. Thank you for reading and have a great day!

Block The Summer Heat

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Hi guys! I know I've been complaining about the summer heat since April started but can you blame me? Every time I go out I feel like my skin gets parched even under the shade of my trusty umbrella. This is why I advise everyone to be prepared because it's like a freaking desert out there!

So what do you need to face the summer heat in a tropical country like ours? First of all you need protection from the sun's UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays penetrate the skin more deeply and plays a major role in accelerating skin aging and can also contribute to development of skin cancer. UVB rays on the other hand penetrate the skin less deeply than UVA rays and is said to be the primary cause of sun burn and skin cancer.

There are also UVC rays absorbed by the earth's ozone layer together with some of the UVB rays. So most of the UV rays we come in contact with are UVA with a small amount of UVB. This is why you need to choose a sunscreen that offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays.

Another thing to consider is the SPF or Sun Protection Factor. SPF values signify the duration of protection against UVB rays versus not using a sunscreen. Dermatologists recommend using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 which blocks 97% of the sun’s rays. According to the American Academy of Dermatology "higher number SPFs block slightly more of the sun’s rays but no sunscreen can block 100% of the sun’s rays. High-number SPFs last the same amount of time as low-number SPFs and should be applied approximately every two hours or according to time on the label, even on cloudy days, and after swimming or sweating."

So what type of sunscreen should you use? It's actually a matter of personal choice and may vary according to area of body to be protected. Creams are best for dry skin and on the face, gels are good for hairy areas such as the scalp while sticks are good to use around the eyes. Sprays are more preferred by parents for its ease of application. Regardless of which type you use be sure to apply it generously on exposed areas of your body like the face, neck and extremities at least 15 minutes before sun exposure.

Other tips to get you through the summer is to drink lots of water to keep you hydrated and refreshed. Avoid too much sun exposure but if you can't, bring added protection from the sun like a handy umbrella. Umbrellas nowadays have UV protection as well like those manufactured by Umbra. So start giving your skin the protection it deserves and always make sure to never leave home without it. Remember, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
