Hey guys! I can't believe it's been ages since my last post. I've been wanting to write an entry to welcome the month of December but I was so busy I couldn't even decide on what to write about. Good thing I just had a mani-pedi/foot spa that I enjoyed so much it's definitely blogworthy.

I visited Get Polished at the ground floor of Mezza Residences along Araneta Avenue, Sta. Mesa Q.C. It was a rainy Friday afternoon and there were no other clients so I got seated right away.

There were around 5 couches inside the salon and they had no waiting area so better set an appointment for a sure spot when you come in. Although you may also visit them on their lazy hours which usually fall between 1:00 to 5:00 PM. 

A very pretty chandelier greets you at the entrance. They offer an array of services and I got the regular manicure coupled with pedicure and foot spa. 

The base and top coats are both exclusive products of the spa.

There were tons of nail polish bottles to choose from but I was dead set on having a subtle nude color for my finger nails. The receptionist suggested this nail polish from CUCCIO. I don't frequent nail spas as much as I want to but I knew right away that it's a new brand of nail color. The label didn't say what the shade is but it's near nude.

The lady assigned to do my manicure did a really great job! I love how she effectively removed dead skin surrounding my nails and beautifully layered the polish.

As for my toe nails, I chose OPI in Malaga Wine which is a darker shade of red, perfect for the holiday season.

Excuse my chubby toes but I just want you to see how gorgeous the shade turned out. Hooray to OPI!!! 

I also heard OPI polishes don't cause nail discoloration so you might want to try OPI if you've noticed cuticle darkening with your usual brand of nail polish. 

I also want to commend the lady who did my foot scrub and pedicure for the awesome work! She was so persistent in removing every dead skin she could scrape off my feet. I also noticed her unsealing a new scrubbing pad and sticking it on a metal handle. I learned later that they use a new pad for each client which I think is very important for hygienic purposes. 

After my manicure and pedicure, my nails were treated with a drop each of their HALF TIME  Polishing Dry Accelerator. It looks and feels like oil which is why my nails look a bit greasy on the images but the results were worth it. In less then 10 minutes my nails were good to go. 

Overall, my experience with Get Polished is so satisfying that I will definitely come back. I love that their services are fairly priced, I only paid 520 Php in total. Get Polished Nail Spa has several branches around the metro, you may visit their website for more information.

YUKA: Nail Polish Remover

I love having clean and freshly polished nails. I usually prefer natural or nude colors on my finger nails and darker shades of red or old rose on my toe nails. Since I don't have much talent and patience in applying nail color, I visit the nail spa as often as possible. But sometimes a busy schedule or a tight budget gets in the way so I'm left with no choice but to do my own nails. Though I do enjoy it, I still dread removing chipped nail polish from a previous mani-pedi because it can get messy and result to dry cuticles. Good thing I was introduced to Yuka nail polish remover wipes.

I wasn't too excited about this when I got it from the November BDJ box simply because I seldom do my own mani-pedi. I just tried it because I've been sporting unsightly chipped finger nail polish for more than a week now. 

For reference, I used the following on my finger nails: 

CK nail primer, Sally Hansen Advanced hard as nails in natural shade and strengthening top coat. That's a total of 3 coats so you could just imagine how tough it can get to remove them.

 

The Yuka nail polish remover wipes were stacked neatly in a small plastic container. First time I opened the cover, it reeked of alcohol with a hint of fruity grape scent. It might be due to being sealed for a long time since it didn't smell as strong in the following instances. The pads were quite thin but well soaked and it only took a few gentle rubs for the polish to come off. It wasn't at all messy, I think the pads absorbed the polish efficiently without leaving any residue. A single sheet was enough to remove the polish on all my finger nails. Awesome! This simple yet effective product just inspired me to do my own mani-pedi more often.

Without batting an eyelash, I recommend this to everyone especially those who love redoing their nail polish often. This will save you time, effort and money since you don't need to have your nails done professionally, you can easily do it yourself! I will definitely restock once this is consumed which I think won't be too soon because one pack has 35 sheets. This is enough to last anyone a lot of time before repurchasing.

Dashing Diva Experience

     I've heard about Dashing Diva nail salon in the past years and have seen their branch inside Beauty Bar Trinoma but never tried their services until last Friday. I wanted pampering since I felt like I deserve one after several weeks of not having a mani-pedi. I tried the most sought after (at least that's what the staff said) package they offer, SPOILED (Php 950) while the other 2 packages were BASIC (Php 650) and ALL-OUT (Php 1,500).

     The first thing I noticed about the place was the the girly ambiance. They have a long pink cushioned couch with small tubs that look like bathroom sinks (only a little bigger) across the edge where your feet can be dipped in. The thing that bothered me (same with other nail salons I've been to) was the lack of privacy between customers. There were no dividers or curtains that separate you from the others. Anyway, the clients were glued to their magazines most of the time so privacy wasn't at all an issue. The thing that separates them from the other salons was the free drink, choice of iced tea or a cosmopolitan! Not bad. They do massage your hands and feet but it only took a few minutes. They were more OC on cleaning, moisturizing and perfecting my nails. They applied different moisturizing creams for several times before and after cleaning the nails. After applying the nail color, they assisted me to a counter where you stick your hands and feet under a blow dryer which I thought was a no-no after having newly polished nails. The end result was more than satisfying, it was perfect! (Sorry for the image, I could't get a clear shot)

My nails were perfectly colored and dry! The texture remained flawless even after 4 days, the longest wearing polished nails I've had. As for the price, it's a bit more expensive than the other salons but if you're not a massage freak like me and you're after good quality service and satisfying results then this is the nail spa for you. I have already recommended this salon to friends and I am definitely coming back in the future.
